Title: Sr. Construction Estimator
Location: CMS
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Pay Band 8: $35,128.00-$82,101.00

Summary/Objective
The Senior Estimator has a key role in CMS and is responsible for managing from inception to completion the preconstruction process for all projects assigned to this role. This process includes but may not be limited to business development, client engagement, budget development/submission, detailed and comprehensive quantity takeoff, accurate cost evaluation, subcontractor/supplier bid solicitation, subcontractor/supplier scope/qualification/cost evaluation, risk evaluation, and bid submission. The Senior Estimator is also responsible for management of assigned estimating personnel, preconstruction technology assessment/development, final approval of bids/budgets prepared by assigned personnel, management of subcontractor/supplier relations, and continual development of preconstruction procedures/processes.

Essential Functions
Consult with outsides sources and analyze documents to create time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
Create cost tracking and reporting operational systems.
Create estimates and cost or expenditure statements for use in future project consideration.
Oversee and coordinate all estimating functions.
Contact subcontractors and vendors for bid pricing
Review, evaluate and thoroughly understand Request for Proposals (RFPs) and solicitations
Work with senior management and project/proposal managers to develop winning bid strategies
Perform scope and quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed scopes of work for bidding
Manage the Request for Bid (RFB) process
Review and clarify bid submissions and negotiate pricing with subcontractors
Maintain a highly organized bid file
Present estimates for review by senior staff
Develop and maintain positive subcontractor relationships

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Ability to recognize plan discrepancies, errors, and omissions

Supervisory Responsibility
Mentor junior estimating staff

Travel/ Driving
Local travel is required. Driver’s license and personal vehicle required.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelors in Construction or Civil Engineering
Must have 8+ years’ experience in construction and construction estimation.
Must have 3+ years’ experience in the “Public Bid” market

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Experience with all 16 divisions of construction including site, concrete, steel and MEP
